I suggest that happiness largely results from an attitude of gratitude. These are the "best of times" if we choose to make them so. Most readers are healthy. We are educated. We have friends and opportunity is all around us. We are, by any reasonable standard, wealthy. We can travel, read the best books ever written. We can start businesses, learn new languages or other skills, we can change our minds, and our lives.

Freedom and opportunity exist only if they are used! And one way we fuel our dreams and empower the future is by "borrowing" confidence from the past. Celebrate your past achievements and use them to know, deep inside, that you can boldly go wherever your wish in the future. Go climb some big mountains!

Can you make the changes you want in your life? Of course you can! You've changed in the past and you can (and will) change in the future. The keys to making the positive, powerful changes you desire are maintaining a sense of Positive Self-Direction, deciding WHAT you want, learning HOW to do it, and creating a PLAN to get there. PLAN your work and then work the PLAN. It can be done and you can do it!

Highly successful people organize their lives around their most important goals. World class athletes don't have to "find" time to train. Stephen King and other prolific writers don't "try" to write! Too many of us wait to do the perfect thing, with the result we do nothing.
The way to get ahead is to start now. While many of us are waiting until
conditions are "just right" before we go ahead, others are stumbling along,
fortunately ignorant of the dangers that beset them. By the time we are, in
our superior wisdom, decided to make a start, we discover that those who
have gone fearlessly on before, have, in their blundering way, traveled a
considerable distance. If you start now, you will know a lot next year that
you don't know now, and that you will not know next year, if you wait.

The birthplace of success for each person is in his Inner-Consciousness.
The Inner-Consciousness will use whatever it is given.
If constructive thoughts are planted positive outcomes will be the result.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

Highly effective people:
In working with highly effective people, and some not-so-effective people,
one of the distinctions is how they use their energy. We all have the same
amount of time, and most of us have good skills, and lots of ambition. The
difference is in "drama verses performance".
Highly effective people don't always drive fancy cars or have flamboyant
lifestyles. Often they are the "sneaky" ones who go about their business,
focus on their priorities, live simple, orderly lives, and suddenly amaze
us with their "over night success". While others around them are full of

THE STORY OF AN UNFOLDING STRATEGY
Michelangelo lived several centuries ago. He is still viewed as one of the
greatest sculptors and artists who has ever lived. One day he was rolling
a large block of marble down the dusty road in his village. One of his
neighbours approached him, and asked, "Where are you going with that rock,
Michelangelo?"
"I'm going to unleash the angel that is captured inside," he responded.
A long time later the same neighbour entered Michelangelo's workshop.
There stood a magnificent statue of an angel. The neighbour was
overwhelmed by its beauty, and asked, "How did you manage to carve such a
beautiful statue?"
"It was always there," said Michelangelo. "I merely took a hammer and
chisel and chipped away all the pieces that did not look like an angel!"

AN IRISH FRIENDSHIP WISH
May there always be work for your hands to do;
May your purse always hold a coin or two;
May the sun always shine on your windowpane;
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
May the hand of a friend always be near you;
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
We grow because we struggle, we learn and overcome.
R. C. Allen
They who lack talent expect things to happen without effort. They ascribe
failure to a lack of inspiration or ability, or to misfortune, rather than
to insufficient application. At the core of every true talent there is an
awareness of the difficulties inherent in any achievement, and the
confidence that by persistence and patience something worthwhile will be
realised. Thus talent is a species of vigour.
Eric Hoffer
Tidbits:
Kindness is more important than perfection.
When you give a presentation, keep your mind on what you can convey rather than on what you can get out of it.
Give people a second chance- run them through the system again.
Circumstances don't chance us. The way we handle circumstances changes us.
The best advisers, helpers and friends, always are not those who tell us
how to act in special cases, but who give us, out of themselves, the ardent
spirit and desire to act right, and leave us then, even through many
blunders, to find out what our own form of right action is
Phillips Brooks
"Some men have thousands of reasons why they cannot do what they want to,
when all they need is one reason why they can"
Willis R. Whitney
"Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become."
Jim Rohn
The only power you have on this planet is the power of your decisions
Paulo Coelho
Don't wish it were easier; wish you were better. Don't wish for less problems; wish for more skills. Don't wish for less challenges; wish for more wisdom."
Jim Rohn
